John Lennon and Yoko Ono appeared at the John Sinclair Freedom Rally, a benefit concert held in Crisler Arena in 1971. Lennon had written and recorded a song called "John Sinclair," in which he decried Sinclair's ten year sentence: "He gave him ten for two--what else can the judges do?"
